2010 Fall Winter Fashion Trend Report

Here's just a snap shot of the 2010 Fall Fashion Report by the team at PortiaJewelry.com. To view the entire report with larger images, please click here: 2010 Fall Fashion and Jewelry Report

Head to Toe Fashion
The best part about this Fall season are its layered looks. The reason why I picked this trend above all others was for two major reasons. The first reason was that this trend was seen across the board. Almost every designer gave us layers for a complex yet relaxed look that gives fall fashion a well-put together feel. The second reason why I loved this trend was because you can find these great layers, whether it's a scarf, military jacket, poncho or cape, just about anywhere with only a bit of effort, you can achieve these amazing chic fall looks affordably.

This season I've put together our fashion trend cheat sheet a bit differently. Instead of listing the major trends, I've grouped them together giving you a clear view of what the trends are head- to- toe. I started with hats and this report ends with amazing footwear for fall 2010. There were dozens of trends that I couldn't ignore including cropped sweaters, easy-to-wear capes, shoulder appliqués, wide-leg pants and over-the-knee boots and socks. I truly find that this season is the season to dig through your closet, go find those perfect fall accessories and take the time to pair up and layer to achieve any of these amazing looks. Don't forget... If you can't afford to buy the clothes and the shoes... use accessories and jewelry to make it happen. At PortiaJewelry.com, we strive to bring you designer inspirations and amazing seasonal fashion jewelry all at affordable prices. Check out Portia's Jewelry by the Seasons section and go grab some fall fashion jewels to make and complete your new look.

Last but not least... BIG PROPS to Adam this season. This designer showcased all of our favorite looks in a truly ready-to-wear- fashion. Amazing and inspirational!

Bowlers, Fedoras and so many types of hats were seen on the runways. These hats can add some spice to a boring outfit as well as keep you nice and toasty! Headbands will also do the trick by easily transforming your hair style. Plus, it's a great cover-up to a boring pony tail when the wicked rain is in town! Two hair and makeup trends really stuck out to me... at Blumarine, models had loose and clean looks from hair to makeup with only a smoky eye to add something special. At L.A.M.B., the girls were a bit over done for my taste but I wanted to showcase deep lip colors, which are totally in this season. Only thing I would suggest, is go lighter on the eyes when sporting a bright or deep lip color.

Fashion jewelry on the runways were over the top with intricate collar bib statement necklaces, piled on bracelets and bangles and metallic gunmetal finishes. Celebrities and rock stars are sporting two-finger rings and Portia Jewelry has some great affordable alternatives. Jewelry (top, left to right: Bond Girl Love Knot Earrings- Port02165, Burnished Stones Statement Necklace- Port02158, Wide Gunmetal Leaf Cocktail Ring- Port02153, Tailed Rhinestone Black Leaf Two Finger Ring- Port02169) (bottom, left to right: Cognac Ruffled Leather Cuff Bangle- Port02104, Layered Black and Beige Crystal Bracelets- Port02028, Crystal Studded Leather Strap Bracelets- Port01374, Three-tone Sterling Silver Multi-strand Bracelet- Port00893) or view all Fall Fashion Jewelry

The best 12 trends for tops and outerwear are: Turtle Necks, cropped tops and sweaters, print blouses, vests, capes, cardigans, leather jackets, military jackets, shoulder appliqués, patchwork and plaids, velvet and velour, ruffled wrap sweaters and blouses.

The top 8 trends for bottoms are: Wide-Leg pants, graffiti inspired denim and print pants, luscious burgundy, sophisticated camel, pleated skirts (love this look on leather), paneled denim, fitted cargo pants, versatile jumpsuits to easily transform day to night.

2009 Spring Fashion Jewelry Trends and New Arrivals

2009 Spring Fashion Trend Report- Fashion and Jewelry
New Arrivals from PortiaJewelry.com for Spring/ Summer 2009

There's nothing more exciting than spring fashion. Sorry, fall just doesn't do it for me. Spring is always fresh and bright. For me, it's just as simple as that. Plus, this year's trends are fun, sexy and comfortable. Seriously, what more can a girl ask for? There's dozens of looks to go for and each one works for just about anyone. Here's what the team at Portia Jewelry came up with. Call it a quick '09 reference sheet or cheat sheet! Don't forget to throw in your own comments below!

Designer Show Standouts: BCBG (easy, comfy separates, stunning shades of grey, cool and sexy jumpsuits), Gucci (chicest sportswear, light and modern), Rag & Bone (rocker/punk softened with delicates, great job at toning down this hard look- very Old English with twists and surprises), Nicole Miller ("Voo Doo Spirit"- inspired patterns, lots of toned down colors and amazing use of stretch silk fabrics.

List of Trends: Simple silhouettes, simple glam, bohemian glam, one-shoulder dresses, loose and free wide pants in light flowing fabrics, mixed prints, COLOR, light fabrics, cropped jackets, femme menswear, masculine inspirations (timeless tailoring, safari, military inspirations), 70's luxury CHICNESS, comfy and preppy, retro romantic (rocker meets silk and lace). You can sense the 80's inspiration in that last one but you really can't see it. THANKFULLY!

Inspirations: Nature with flowers everywhere (prairie-like flower prints- smaller than what we've been seeing), very natural looks, free-spirited Bohemian, prairie and American Western with bleached denims, turquoise and leather jewels with fabrics and feathers. International inspirations were seen in harem pants and tribal prints.

Jewelry: It's not just about the cocktail ring this year, necklaces are making a comeback and new fresh styles and colors are in demand. Bib style necklaces, large statement necklaces (complicated and eye-catching) with browns mixed with lots of color. Mixed media jewelry with unlikely components, colors and patterns can be seen on bangles. Ed Hardy- like tattoo art print style jewelry on bangles and earrings offer a cool urban chicness. Again, prairie inspirations not only inspired the new floral fabrics, and western country maxi dresses but also carried into jewelry trends with the use of brown leather, turquoise stones and feathers. Heavy metal, lots of shine and accents with crystal, rhinestones and cz's give that glam effect to the BOHO look. Gold and silver are both in with bright colored accents and stones on necklaces and bracelets but a must add to your wardrobe this spring season are alternative components like leather, fabrics and feathers.

Most Seen Accessory: Thin belts and thin soft leather belts that endlessly wrap around your waist.

Hottest Hues: Every color! All across the board from French-like sunburned blues, pinks, yellow and greens to bright nautical blue, greens and yellows.

Safe Staples: Shades of grey, beige, white and even black!

Accent Colors: Electric pastels instead of the powdery shades we're used to seeing. Vibrant and metallic nautical colors from blues to yellows are seen in jewelry, bags and belts. All colors have a green light this season. Yea!

Silhouettes: Are simple and loosely tailored. They seem to be tailored in the right places and loose in the right places, showing a sense of simplicity but with exaggerated curves. Simply put, wear that oversized shirt or jacket, but add a thin belt to accent the right places!

Hottest Fabrics: Anything thin! Thin fabrics- sheer, light, flowing silk, oraganza and lace. This spring is all about layering (seems strange, yes!) but with these ultra thin fabrics you can layer and create a standout look using different fabrics and colors. And yes, spandex is still in!

Prints: Just think patterns you never thought would go together, go together! Mixed fabrics, stripes and flowers and animal prints were seen together everywhere.

Here to Stay: Color, statement jewelry, skinny jeans, wide-legged material pants, safari looks, military cuts and spandex.

Shoes: Sky-high is the word! Gladiators are still in.

Make -up: Since the fabrics and palettes are pretty wild you definitely want to tone down the hair and make-up. Natural looks are key! Healthy looks are in! Natural faces with played up eyes are perfect. Make sure you use color for those eyes while keeping the rest of your face natural looking and healthy.

Hair: For the same reason as above, stay natural with flowing hair. The care-free messy look will do, along with loose (I did it in 2 seconds) up-do's. Most important is healthy and shiny natural looking hair.

Until next time...

New trends- 2008 Spring Trends- Milan & New York Fashion Weeks

Seems like designers really took in mind the beauty of a woman’s figura when putting together their new designs for Spring 2008. Milan Fashion Week 2007 continues and New York ended, as we all know. So many things kept me interested, which surprised me, considering most of the color palette. Neutrals and Black & White were the staples, the “base colors”, at the big player’s shows such as Vera, Calvin, Emporio Armani, Cavalli, Bottega and even D&G.

I think because these garments seem a lot more realistic and appealing for the “average” woman, it really did make it a lot more interesting. Plus, each designer added splashes of color to their neutral bases. D&G added blue and Gucci added yellow to their black & white arrangements and then pink to what seemed like the same black & white arrangements.

You can stop squinting! Those blinding gold and silver metallics have been tamed a bit. These light metallics were seen in blue-grey, white, crème, camel, and subtle gold and were pleasant to my eye. With the exception of Prada, who blinded me and made me a bit dizzy with confusing patterns and ugly plaids, the tone was mellow- dramatic.

Ok, enough about colors! Going back to what interested me about this season’s shows is really how these fashions would appeal beyond the runway shows and their loyal followers. In both New York and Milan, loose layers and form fitted silhouettes were most complimenting and ultra polished. Designers such as Bottega Veneta offered many classic looks with a 40’s- 50’s vibe. Roberto Cavalli stirred much excitement in me with silk/satin long dresses that displayed oversized flowers just at the bottom in vibrant hues. Designers also kept short cocktail dresses sexy with an almost lingerie look but still kept it rich and classy.

Biggest accessories, everywhere to be seen, were belts & hats! Belts seen were big, small, metal, fabric and just about any form and size. Hats were big and floppy and also military and structured. I am sad to once again say that jewelry was minimal at the shows! =( But I am determined to sift and search and bring forth the latest designs very soon! You can view comparable jewelry from the runways of Fall/Winter 2007 though!
